Codex System
The Codex System is a core progression mechanic in Vega Realms that enhances your build with powerful abilities.
Each Codex is tied to a specific playstyle or specialization, allowing players to customize how they fight and evolve over time.

What is a Codex
A Codex acts as a combat enhancement system, providing:
- Unique abilities
- Build customization through Bolt-Ons
- Progressive scaling through experience
👉 Unlike traditional skill systems, the Codex adds a layer of active abilities on top of your build.
How It Works
Each Codex follows the same structure:
- 3 Core Abilities → shared with all build variants 1
- 2 Bolt-On Slots → customizable abilities
👉 You can equip only 2 Bolt-On abilities at a time, even if you unlock more.
Sparks System
All Codex abilities are powered by Sparks.
Sparks are generated through combat actions, depending on your build:
- Dealing damage
- Casting spells
- Applying effects
- Controlling enemies
👉 The more actively you play, the faster you generate Sparks.
Codex Progression
Codexes level up through combat.
- Maximum level: 10
- Each level grants: 3 points
👉 Total points available: 30
These points can be used to:
- Increase damage or healing
- Improve duration of abilities
- Reduce cooldowns
- Enhance scaling
Unlock Requirement
Each Codex begins gaining experience only when its main skill reaches 80.0.
Before that:
👉 The Codex remains at Level 0 with base effects only.
Bolt-On System
Bolt-On abilities are unlocked based on specific skills.
- Unlock thresholds: 90.0 and 100.0
- Different builds unlock different Bolt-Ons
- Bolt-Ons define your specialization and playstyle
👉 This allows hybrid builds and deep customization.

Design Philosophy
The Codex System is designed to:
- Encourage build identity
- Promote experimentation
- Reward active gameplay
👉 Your Codex does not define your build — it enhances it.
Important Information
- Only 2 Bolt-On abilities can be active at once
- Core abilities are always active
- Codex progression is tied to combat, not passive gain
- Stronger builds benefit more from Codex scaling
- Hybrid builds can mix Bolt-Ons from multiple skill paths
Notes
1 For example, the Mage, Summoner and Necromancer will share the same 3 abilites of Codex of Arcana. But they can choose the last two abilities as Bolt-On based on their variant.
